This document serves as a user manual for the SAM component of RAMI
(Rate Adjustment by Managing Inflows). At the time of writing, it was up
to date, however it may not necessarily reflect the current state of
development or any changes that may have been made since writing.
SAM (Statistics Analysis Module) is a tool for analysing network performance,
specifically designed to complement FCM (Flow Control Module), a set of
Linux kernel modules for TCP flow control. Further details of FCM and of
the RAMI project as a whole can be found at
http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/340/s340gm.
SAM features:
- A network logger which can be run to create log files in SAM's
native NETLOG format.
- A set of analyses that can be performed on data from NETLOG
files, including Autocorrelation, Fourier Transforms (Spectral
Analysis), CDF (Cumulative
Distribution Function), PDF (Probability Distribution
Function), Mean and Variance.
- A set of output types for analysed data including gnuplot
graphs, NETLOG files and files with comma separated values.
- Two separate plugin interfaces for analysis plugins and output
plugins so that SAM's basic functionality can be easily
extended.
