Getting Started

Once installed, SAM can be run by typing sam in a terminal and pressing enter. Upon opening SAM, you will see the following window:

This is how SAM looks before a file is opened. You'll notice that there are four lists presented: the large one for Streams, and three smaller ones for Fields, Analysis, and Output respectively. These are the four things which need to be selected in order to perform an analysis, however since there is no file open and hence no data to analyse, the list of Analysis and Output types are greyed out. The ``Run'' button, which is used to perform an analysis, is also greyed out for the same reason.

SAM can perform two main functions: logging and performing an analysis. For help on logging to a NETLOG file, click here [*]. For help on opening a file and performing an analysis, click here [*].
