Standard Output Plugins

This section describes the standard output plugins that are distributed with SAM.

Graph

The Graph plugin outputs to a gnuplot graph. There are several additional settings for this plugin, as shown below.

The title to appear on the graph, and each of the axis labels, can be set in the top three fields of the Graph plugin window, as shown above. The first set of radiobuttons then determines how the graph is to be output, i.e to a postscript file, a data and gnuplot file, or to the screen. Both types of file output allow you to enter the filename you would like the graph to be written to.

Finally, the style of points can be individually set for each stream. Data points can be represented either as marked points (the points option), lines between unmarked points (the lines option), lines between marked points (the linespoints option), or as columns (the boxes option). The default is points. To change this for a particular stream, click on that stream in the list and then select a point style for it.

To create a graph, select the appropriate options, then click ``Graph''. The options window will be left open until you click the ``Close'' button, so that you can keep adjusting the graphing settings and the graphing again if you wish.

Text File

This plugin outputs the analysed data to a file specified by the user. The delimiter to be user in this file can be set by the user in the settings window as shown below, hence a desired file type - e.g. comma separated values - can be easily achieved. This format is useful for matching other generic file formats, e.g. .csv files (comma separated values), and can be used to export data to other programs.

Table to screen

The table to screen plugin simply brings up a new window with a table in which the data is displayed. The heading for each data field column of the table has the stream for that data field appended. If, for a particular time value, there is no data for a particular stream, then there is a 0 entry in the table at that point.
